Happy Sunday everyone, I actually got one of these out on time this weekend!! -I mean, I can't even believe it myself. Mila, Boban and I finished up the Cloud project today at the Studio (during our in-person sessions), and the big take-away for today's video isn't really about the clouds themselves, but how you can layer in color over the grey-tone undercoat layers. -Oh yeah, and the second big take-away is how to use your brushes to create hard edges and blends. *Overlays were a 1 & 1/2 hour session, to match the 1 & 1/2 hour grey-tone session in part 1. Check out all of this amazing fluffiness below!! For extra reference, here's our finished, layered in clouds example below: -And just to round this out, here is a pic of the grey-tone set-ups, which is what informed all of the colors which were layered in above them. Thanks for dropping by everybody!
-Please feel free to reach out, with questions or comments about this airy offering (or any other project, for that matter) right here! Stay tuned for next time, and the Fantabulous Flower Project!! Be well, Andy C. Happy Monday evening everyone, hope everyone got through it ok ;) -New Tutorial video is up tonight! This one goes out to Mr. Boban and Madame Mila, two young Artists-At-Large, currently learning how to paint with me over at andrewcarsonillustration.com studios!👍 This week, we are working out rendering clouds, and my latest Video tutorial below is a supplement for our live sessions. (This is Part 1 of 2 Videos, by the way. -Both Videos were worked out in one-and-a-half-hour sets, and mirror the live sessions with my fellow Artists.) Thanks for checking in, and stay tuned for part two and color overlays! -Andy C. Always for your perpetual enjoyment and edification, here are some pics of the clouds in progress, with a sneak peak of the finished versions, coming up shortly in part 2!! That's about all there's time for tonight, so signing off everyone! Thanks for dropping in, have a great evening, and see you all next time. Andy C. Happy Sunday everyone, and thanks for dropping in! I've just posted my latest video tutorial, which I make as supplements to my live art sessions and to showcase my current projects. This week, I shared a technique for painting deep water, which I demonstrate in the video below. (This was an hour session, for both the live session and taped version.) Thanks for checking in, and enjoy! (And below is my general source reference, and a pic of my finished rendering.) Thanks for checking in, and see you next time! Andy C. Hello everyone, thanks for dropping in! 👍 I'm presenting Part 2 of 3 for the Gaia Project today, and working out all the grey-tones! (We're setting up the canvas for all the color overlays!!) Enjoy the video below! -And don't forget to check out my end of session pics below! This 15" x 30" acrylic canvas painting is my 4th in the series; depicting nature gods and mythological deities as they relate to nature. (Working on #5 now; more on that later!) (This work is meant as an aspect of Mother Nature, and pairs with my earlier Green Man effort, within a larger scheme of painting ideas. -These two make a nice couple :) And here they are together, these female and male Nature Deity aspects: And as an added bonus, here are my end-of-session pics, after working each session on this project! Thanks for checking in and stopping by. -Stay tuned for next time, and for color overlays!!
Have a great week everyone, and I'll see you soon. Andy C. Hey everyone, Thanks for dropping by! -I have a special post for your this week. So, I am making a comic book page with Mila (age 12) during our twice-a-month virtual Art Sessions!! We are co-writing, scripting, penciling, inking and coloring our pages together. -Each of us writes and draws our own characters, and we are creating this story as we go. -Mila has created Third-Eye Guy and Dark-Elf Evil Dude, while Thomas Fool is my guy. -We just finished this week's session this morning, and so I am posting our progress to date here now. Mila is working out her inks for her panels, and we will continue with the page colors from there! THE STORY THUS FAR: Thomas Fool, who holds the Reality Map and Traveler's Chalk, can appear in any place and time in the universe with these magical tools. (He is on the run from the owner of these items.) He appears in front of (and crashes into) the hapless and frantically fleeing Third-Eye-Guy, who is running from the nefarious Dark Elf Evil Dude. Dark Elf Evil Dude wants to use Third-Eye-Guy's third eye (obviously), for super secret and insidious purposes, not to mention unleashing terrible Evil into the universe!! Fortunately, Third-Eye Guy and Thomas Fool join forces and prepare to escape The Dark Elf's clutches... The Slideshow below shows the stages of our page has gone through, to date: Below is a quick character study I did for Thomas Fool to refamiliarize myself with this character. (Thomas is being repurposed from a self-published comic book series I created some years ago, to use on this cool project with Mila.) Keep you guys posted as we progress on this project!! If you would like to know more about my virtual Art Sessions, drop me a line!
Thanks for popping in, and have a great week. -Andy C. 🎃Happy Sunday and Happy Halloween to everyone!🎃 🎃👻🎃 You're just in time for... my latest Art project video!! (Today I'm working on Gaia, also known as Mother Nature, or the Earth Goddess, or any of her other colorful monikers.) Below is part 1 in a video series, showing my process with this painting. I cover the pencil sketch process and set up the canvas for painting: This is the 2nd in a series of Nature Deity paintings, and is meant as a compliment to my earlier effort with the Green Man. Below shows my progress (as of this weekend) with this Work-In-Progress, with painting pics taken after each session in the Gallery on the right: Thanks for stopping in and checking out the latest projects! -Next up is black-and-white rendering, followed by color! Stay tuned, and be well everyone. Andy C. Happy Sunday you guys! -I have a fun video for you today; sharing my most recent Virtual Art Session project below: (We're working on digital paintings at my twice-a-month Virtual Art Workshops, and today's video concludes the Queen Amidala project we started about a month ago. -Enjoy!) If you have any questions about my Workshops, or just want more information, reach out to me on my site here to drop by! (Next session will be on Sunday, 08/15/21) (In our current sessions, we are coloring Black-&-White Manga-style Japanese comic book pages, like the 'All Might' comic sample below:
-Good times you guys!! -My workshops are a collaborative and casual place to fine-tune your painting, coloring and drawing skills. -If you have any questions about my Art sessions or would like to stop by for one, reach out through Patreon or on my site here. In the meantime enjoy the latest video, and have a great weekend everyone!👍 Andy C. Hey everyone, Happy Sunday to all of you! It has been a few weeks since I've posted, and I apologize for the delay. I am correcting this immediately with this new video today! This is a recently completed, personal project, titled 'The Green Man', which is my take on the male counterpoint to Mother Nature, or Gaia in most Pagan religions and cultural groups. -He is essentially a Pagan elemental Nature Deity. The Green Man is usually depicted as a man made out of leaves. He is associated with the stag deer for virility, is also known as Cernunnos or Herne, (among other colorful names), and is sometimes depicted wearing the horns of a stag as well. I have five stags in my rendition at the Green Man's feet to represent the five points of the Pagan Pentagram, representing in turn the different elemental energies in their belief systems. I've long held a fascination for Pagan religions (and comparative religions in general), and felt drawn to paint the Green Man for some time. Finally got to it! I hope you enjoy the video, and look out for more involved video tutorials on this project in the near term. Some awesome digital projects coming up soon too! Thanks for stopping in, and have a great week everyone. Andy Hey guys, Happy Sunday! I have a new video to share with you, sharing the pencil sketch we're using at my live, virtual Digital Art Workshops! |
