Gods, Goddesses & Monsters
An ongoing series of works
An ongoing series of works
These seven paintings are meant to be seen as a series in motion, and in the order above.
My two Dragons flank my series on either side, as their Guardians and Gate Keepers.
The central piece is titled, 'The Dreamer & The Dream', and is meant to represent the believer in all these Gods and Monsters.
-Much earlier in my life, the idea that a God could fade away fascinated me.
This became a life-time interest in the many Gods and religions that exist on this earth, both past and present.
As I was introduced to Greek Mythology in particular, the idea that all Gods needed someone to believe in them, or they themselves would die, took hold in my inner life and world.
'The Dreamer and The Dream' is that central someone in my series, keeping the faith metaphorically in an ever-shifting world.
To her left and right are 'Gaia' and 'The Green Man', the male and female personifications of the old nature Gods, and meant to be a pair within the series.
To The Green Man's left you will find 'Huginn', (meaning, 'Thought'), the 1st of Odin's ravens, and also the first of a pair.
(I intend for Muginn, meaning 'Memory', Odin's 2nd raven, to complete this pair.)
To Gaia's left you will find 'The Morningstar', a tribute to Greek God who lost his name to a Christian devil, (and also a forthcoming pair, as I work on the Eveningstar.)
This is an ongoing series, with new paintings being added as I complete them.
