Darth Maul is the coolest Sith ever. (Worked on this one in between my 'Good, Bad and Ugly' character studies in the last few weeks.) I mean, he gets killed in Phantom Menace, but somehow miraculously survives being cut in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi to return in the Clone Wars cartoons with a pair of robot legs (thanks to Mother Talzin) and serious anger issues. He makes Obi's life hell for two seasons, and even comes back to haunt him as an old man on Tatooine before getting a fantastic send off in Rebels. He's had so many great appearances in the movies and especially in the cartoons, that I thought I would give him a go. I wanted to convey his relentless patience, sitting out there in the Tatooine desert night just waiting for his probe droids to get back, and went to work. Painting in Photoshop allows me to produce work much more quickly, reserving the best projects for canvas. It's fantastic to get to put out an idea and have it be rendered in a few hours, instead of a week to two weeks. To be fair, I could spend weeks working out a Photoshop painting too, but it is far easier to fully render something quickly in Photoshop than it is to use traditional media. As ever, thanks for taking a look at my work. Peace, Andy
