Happy Sunday everyone! Thanks for dropping by. I have a special project this week, as I am revisiting an older project left by the wayside for a time. This piece was inspired by the story of St. George & the Dragon.' The story is kind of an amalgam of older earth religions appropriated by Christianity, and a legend that propagated itself all over the Byzantine world around the 12th century AD. I was drawn to the idea that the dragon was a metaphor for the Tree of Life, and that the Dragon was at war with humanity, requiring sacrifices. (So St. George heroically has to go slay the dragon.) Check out the Video below! Here's the finished piece for you below: And here are my photo references for my figures and backgrounds on the left, with my Step-By-Step pics, taken after each session, up to the end of Part 1 on the right: St. George is a Knight in the tale, but I had a thing for Robin Hood from when I was a kid, so I made my own substitution for the heroic warrior archetype to suit one that resonated more with me. Thanks again for stopping by to say hello! -Stay tuned next week for the second and final session for this one. Be well out there and have a great week, everyone! Andy
